Will my health insurance pay for treatment at Texas Recovery Center?

The Mental Health and Addiction Parity Act and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) protect your access to treatment for addiction and mental health using your insurance. These laws require health insurance providers to offer both mental health and substance abuse treatment coverage to all policyholders. How much treatment and the type of treatment and your out-of-pocket costs depend upon which plan you have.

The simplest way to find out if your plan will work at Texas Recovery Center is just to call us and ask for an insurance benefits verification. The insurance benefits check usually takes less than an hour and you can often do the phone assessment with your admissions coordinator at the same time. Our verification of insurance benefits and phone screening are free of charge. Neither of these obligate you to go to treatment at Texas Recovery Center, they are simply to help you make an informed decision.

How do I know addiction treatment will work for me?

The biggest factors determining success in treatment and recovery are willingness and the ability to be honest with yourself and others. While there is no “100% guarantee” that treatment anywhere will keep you sober for life, the person receiving treatment has A LOT of control over the results. If you or your lived one truly want to be sober and well and they are willing to follow simple directions and work hard, then their chances are a lot better than average.

Successful and lasting recovery doesn’t come from medicine or a therapy session alone. Those things are all tools which help you reach your goals. The foundation of long-term recovery is willingness, hard work and a consistent effort to be honest with yourself and others. Any rehab that tells you they can keep you 100% sober for life or that they are going to “cure” addiction with no effort or work on your part isn’t being honest with you.

It’s completely normal to be nervous or unsure of yourself in the beginning. You don’t have to be supremely confident. You just need to have some willingness to change and be ready to listen and learn. A big part of recovery, especially in the beginning, is simply  learning to trust. Know that we have your best interests in mind and be willing to try a new way of life. The rest will come to you in good time.

Do I need to go to rehab? Can I just go to meetings instead?

12-step meetings can be a very important tool to help people grow in their recovery after treatment. But they are not meant to take the place of medical treatment. Meetings and treatment compliment each other. Some people benefit from 12-step alternative programs like Rational Recovery or SMART Recovery. Most people get the most benefit from getting professional addiction care and also engaging in the 12-step fellowship programs or alternatives.

A medical detox, when needed, followed by 28 days of addiction treatment or more offers the best chance for success. Quitting ‘cold turkey’ has the lowest success rate of all methods and it can be very dangerous (or even fatal) in the case of alcohol or benzodiazepines. Remember that there is no such thing as getting ‘too much help’ for a problem, but it’s definitely possible to not get enough help.
